When I began working for Dwain Fletcher Company (DFC) in 2005, PEO STRI was starting a new tradition of hosting quarterly Town Hall meetings. The purpose was to inform the workforce of events and accomplishments, and for them to get a chance to ask questions. After contributing to the design and development of three meetings as part of the creative team, I was offered the opportunity to become the project lead - it stuck and I oversaw the creative development of more than a dozen Town Halls over the course of the next six years.
It was critical to the PEO to increase attendance and make the experience more enjoyable as the meeting typically lasted more than two hours. To help accomplish this goal, we uniquely themed each Town Hall and aimed to immerse the audience in it. Tickets were produced and distributed (which were used to gauge headcount), 'Save the Date' splash screens were designed to tease the theme and games were planned. An Opening Animation or Introduction Video became an essential part of the experience, introducing the audience to the theme and getting them excited for what came next.
Adventure Theme
American Classics Theme
Army Strong Theme
Each theme had it's own look and feel - a style guide had to be established and the work had to broken into manageable amounts based on the number of people on the project. The graphics were only one part of the event, I coordinated with government and military leads as well as other departments within DFC. The events grew to such a large audience, the space on base was no longer large enough and we moved to the largest capacity theater in a nearby Regal; eventually, we expanded to two theaters.
